The Foolproof Marketing Strategy to Grow Your Done-For-You Business

If you own or run an online business, you need to be able to SELL your thing (obviously). If you can’t, you don’t really have a business, do you? This comes down to your marketing strategy – but I want to offer a different way of thinking about HOW you sell.

I get a lot of clients, DMs, and emails from DFY service providers telling me that they’re doing “all the things” and don’t understand why they don’t have clients.

“I’ve been showing up for two whole weeks and don’t understand why the leads aren’t flying through the door!”

The content marketing plan you have in place helps you to show up consistently, but the plan won’t get you very far if that’s ALL that you’re doing.

Eventually, you’ll get to the point where people are asking you for your services, but in the beginning stages, you have to GO OUT and seek those clients yourself.

We’ve all heard that people will buy from you when they feel seen, heard, and valued. And it’s true! This is a piece that I find to be the most important. No one in your audience wants to feel like yet another client or a number or a dollar sign. They want to know that they mean more to you than just a sale.

So, what is the marketing strategy that’s going to change the game for you?

1. Lead with Service

A lot of times, we think there’s a magic potion that all these top entrepreneurs are drinking to reel in clients – and we’ve GOT to get our hands on it!

The reality is, people just want to feel like a human to you. This is where you need to start showing up through leading with service, not just showing up to pitch and sell.

Think about it this way: If your sphere of influence never grew by a single person, how would you grow your business?

You would spend more time and effort connecting with and serving the people already in front of you

If you operate from a place where you’re always looking for the next client, comment, dollar, you’re never going to feel satisfied with your business. Turn your attention to the people who already follow you and go be social with them! Serve without expecting any return. Build relationships – that’s what business is all about.

The DFY industry is growing like crazy and people feel like they’re being sold to left and right. When you treat people like you actually care, they’re going to remember you and maybe they end up buying from you, or maybe not.

Either way, you’ll end up connecting with some amazing connections and feel so much better about the way you run your business.

2. Focus on Intentions Instead of Numbers

Why did you start your business in the first place? Why do you do what you do?

Probably because you want to help people in your niche, make an impact, and make an income. But it’s important to go deeper than that.

For example, instead of setting a goal to sign two new clients or make $5k this month, challenge yourself to focus on intentional action instead.

What I mean by that is, make it your goal to instead connect with three new people every day. Host a live three-day training and show up and serve daily on social media. Connect with every person who responds or comments.

THOSE are awesome intentions with clear direction, and your outcome is probably going to yield the results you’re wanting. But instead of focusing on numbers, you have tangible actions that will actually move the needle forward in your business.

Another way to think about this is reverse engineering: If your goal is two new clients and $5k this month, how many calls are you going to have to get on to make that happen? Let’s say 10 calls.

How are you going to get on 10 discovery calls? You need to have 10 leads, maybe more.

How do you get these leads? You go find them. You show up and do the things that create the relationships and connections.

NOTE – connecting with three new people a day does not mean sending them cold pitches through the DMs. It means reaching and finding common ground, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be about business.

Plus, if you made the effort to open that door and get to know them first, it’s likely they’ll feel much more inclined to reach out to you about your services down the road because you showed that you cared.
